I have been involved in trauma units since 2005, with special interest in fragility fractures, periprosthetic fractures, periarticular fractures, and upper limb trauma. For the last 5 years we have developed an orthogeriatric unit within the trauma section. I have special interest in sarcopenia to prevent falls and promote early recovery after trauma in frail patients; therefore I am conducting several studies on sarcopenia: prevalence, diagnosis and treatment. I am an active AO Trauma member involved in AO Access and act as regional and international faculty in AO courses. I am also an enthusiastic faculty at the ZimmerBiomet Institute.
Proximal humeral fractures treatment and classification is always on the spot of discussion. I have a special interest in this topic and written some papers. Together with IT colleagues from the university we have developed an app for early recovery and exercises in proximal humeral fractures. As an associate professor at medical school, I am enrolled in skeletal muscle regeneration basic research using Elastin like recombinamers (ELRs).
